Decisions

Making a decision can be tough.

Especially when you’re struggling with a choice between where you are and where you want to be.

  • Are you eating an entire row of Oreo cookies on the regular but you WANT to be healthier and have a more toned body? BTW – summer’s coming sister. Just sayin.

    1. Do you put off furthering your education claiming you don’t have time but you WANT a better paying, dream job?

    2. Do you push people away because you’re afraid of being vulnerable or getting your heart broken but you WANT to grow old with someone who will love you unconditionally?

    3. Do you avoid new adventures or experiences but you WANT to meet fascinating people where you can build new, stronger, more meaningful friendships?

    4. Are you avoiding the hard work required to get back on track in your relationship but you WANT things to be happier and more fulfilling with your husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend?

Here’s the deal. It’s not easy. I get it.

In fact, I think we ALL have things in our life we wish were different but changing anything seems too hard.

Caroline Myss says it best; "Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that’s the one that is going to help you grow.”

I hear you, “what if it’s a terrible decision, I regret it and it makes me totally miserable. Even worse, what if I fail.”

BUT...

What if it’s the best decision you’ve ever made!

What if you look back and think – WOW why didn’t I do this sooner?!

What if this small step is the first step in the direction that makes you deliriously happy?

Perhaps the most important questions are:

What happens if you DON’T do this?

What will the trajectory of your life look like if you stay right there in that familiar, comfortable little spot because this shit is just too scary?

Here’s a little truth bomb for ya – you, my love, are the ONLY ONE who is responsible for your happiness. Nobody else.

So how do I get started? I'm glad you asked!

Get out a piece of paper (like a legit notebook and pen!) and write down every single thing that scares you about making the hard decision. Once you’ve got it one paper, walk away. Give it at least 24 hours. Then re-read it and ask yourself "are these things I can overcome?" My guess is that you’ve overcome harder stuff than this in your lifetime, am I right?!

Will it be scary? Yes.

Will it be hard? Most likely.

Will you second guess the decision. Potentially.

BUT - will you learn and grow and become even more badass than you are now…AB-SO-FUCKING-LUTELY.

So what is holding you back from making the choice that scares the shit out of you?
